⛽ Best Crude Oil Base Palworld 1.0
The best Crude Oil base depends on whether you want a dedicated oil outpost, a maximum-output farm, or a multi-resource production base.
📊 Best Crude Oil Base Comparison
| Location | Best For | Oil Nodes | Coordinates | Threat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sunlit Isle | Easy dedicated oil base | 3 in one radius (~6 island) | 401, -467 | Low (Lv 8-10) |
| Oasis Isle | Eastern alternative | 6 (3 top + 3 bottom) | ~917, 193 | High (Lv 40-50) |
| Mount Obsidian | Max oil output | 3 (most per location) | -855, -456 | High (heat + Lv 50+) |
| Sakurajima NW | Multi-resource base | 2 (+ Sulfur/Coal/Stone) | -646, 270 | High (Lv 50+) |
The "best" location is not always the one with the most oil. A compact base that keeps extractors running reliably can outperform a bigger, poorly laid-out one.
📍 Crude Oil Base Locations
⭐ Sunlit Isle — Best for Most Players
The island is isolated and easy to defend from raids. Place the Palbox between the three deposits and check the blue base-radius preview before building. Best used as a dedicated oil outpost, not a crowded main base.
Oasis Isle — Eastern Alternative
A split-level island with a waterfall: three nodes on top and three below, with three fit in one base radius. Bring a flying Pal for the trip and a Transporting Pal for output. This spot is raidable, so plan defenses.
Mount Obsidian — Maximum Oil Output
The highest oil concentration in the game — three fields within one base radius. It's a volcanic high-heat zone, so prep heat resistance and strong defenses. Choose this once you're comfortable in late-game areas.
Sakurajima — Multi-Resource Base
Pick Sakurajima Northwest if you want one base that solves several resource problems at once. It's the strongest pick for a full production base, but enemies are level 50+, so it's a late-game relocation.
⚙️ Crude Oil Extractor vs High-Pressure Extractor
This is the biggest Palworld 1.0 change: the High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor produces oil without a natural oil field, so oil-node count is no longer the only factor in choosing a base.
| Crude Oil Extractor | High-Pressure Extractor | |
|---|---|---|
| Unlock | Level 50 · 2 Tech Points | Level 51 · 4 Ancient Tech Points |
| Materials | 250 Pal Metal Ingots + 50 Circuit Boards | 300 Pal Metal Ingots + 50 Circuit Boards + 50 Bio Batteries + 10 Ancient Civilization Parts |
| Oil field | Required (must place on a node) | Not required (place on open ground) |
| Power draw | 2000 Energy/s | 3000 Energy/s |
| Extraction speed | Standard | Same as standard |
Two strategies
Natural oil field base — best for a dedicated outpost with multiple nodes and a traditional extractor setup. High-Pressure base — best when you prioritize flat building space, power, defense, and Pal pathing over oil-node count.
⚡ Power & Pals for an Oil Base
Oil production depends on electricity and transporting, not just the number of nodes. A base with weak power won't hit its theoretical output.
| Pal | Generating Electricity | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Orserk | Lv 8 → 10 (condensed) | Best — powers 4-6 extractors alone |
| Solmora Lux | Lv 6 | Strong alternative |
| Dynamoff | Lv 6 | Strong alternative |
| Grizzbolt | Lv 5 | Best non-Orserk mid-tier pick |
- Pair a Large Power Generator (Lv 49-50, x3 multiplier) or the endgame Ancient Power Generator (Lv 75, x20) with your electricity Pal
- Add Transporting Pals to move Crude Oil into storage so extractors never back up
- Use work passives (Artisan / Work Slave / Serious) plus Nocturnal so Pals run through the night
- Build an Electric Pylon and Accumulators to store excess power overnight
- Breed your electricity Pals — breed Orserk, Solmora Lux, or Grizzbolt for a stronger generator lineup
⚠️ Common Crude Oil Base Mistakes
| Mistake | Why it hurts |
|---|---|
| Choosing only by oil-node count | More spots don't help if the base can't power or path them |
| Ignoring electricity | Extractors are useless without a power system that keeps up |
| Ignoring Pal pathing | Stuck Pals and long routes cut real output |
| Copying old Early Access guides | 1.0 changed resource distribution and added the High-Pressure extractor |
| Relying on glitch placements | Unusual extractor setups are not the normal expected output |
