🌊 Coralum Ore Location & Farming Guide

Coralum Ore is a rare late-game material added in the Tides of Terraria update (v0.6.0) — and unlike Chromite, it can't be mined from nodes. Learn where to get it, the fastest farming methods, and what you need before hunting this resource.

Quick Answer: Coralum Ore can't be mined — there are no ore nodes. You get it by defeating Whalaska on the Isle of the Glacial Core (~139, 640), salvaging ocean debris with a fishing rod + Powerful Fishing Magnet, or breeding and butchering Whalaska. Refine 5 Coralum Ore + 30 Ore + 20 Coal → 1 Coralum Ingot at the Gigantic Furnace (Lv 61).

What Is Coralum Ore?

Coralum Ore is a rare late-game material added in the Tides of Terraria update (v0.6.0). It is the raw resource used to make Coralum Ingot, which in turn fuels the strongest endgame weapons and their ammunition. Players need it late in the game to build and sustain a top-tier loadout.

The most important thing to understand up front is that Coralum Ore is not mined. Unlike Chromite (which spawns as buried nodes) or regular ore (which has pickaxe-minable deposits), Coralum Ore has no ore nodes anywhere on the map. You must obtain it from specific Pals or ocean salvage.

Coralum Ore vs Coralum Ingot — two different entities. Coralum Ore is the raw material you obtain (drops / salvage). Coralum Ingot is the refined product you smelt at the Gigantic Furnace. This guide covers how to get Coralum Ore.

How to Get Coralum Ore

There are four reliable ways to obtain Coralum Ore, listed from most to least consistent:

Coralum Ore Locations

Coralum Ore has no mining spots, but the creatures that drop it spawn in a specific place:

⭐ Isle of the Glacial Core — Whalaska spawn

📍 ~139, 640 · far north, northwest of the desert biome
🐋 2–3 Whalaska spawn at once🧊 Frozen island — bring warm clothing★★★★★ Best

Neptilius Alpha — guaranteed drop

📍 ~139, 651 · same island
🐋 Lv 60 field boss🎁 10 Coralum Ore per defeat⚠️ Not a continuous farm

Ocean salvage spots

📍 Waters around Feybreak Island and the Isle of the Glacial Core
🎣 Rod + Powerful Fishing Magnet (Lv 62)🪝 Gold-rimmed Rank 2 wreckage: 6–11

Best Coralum Ore Farming Method

For a renewable, hands-off supply, breeding is the winner. For quick bursts, hunting Whalaska directly is fastest.

MethodDifficultyEfficiency
Breed Whalaska + conveyorLow (setup once)★★★★★ — best sustainable
Hunt wild WhalaskaMedium★★★★ — fast active farming
Ocean salvageMedium★★★ — RNG-dependent
Fishing pond (passive)Low★★ — slow but automatic
Farming setup: Catch one male and one female Whalaska, place them in a Breeding Farm with Cake, hatch the eggs in a Large Incubator, then butcher the offspring with a Pal Disassembly Conveyor (Tech Lv 56) for guaranteed Coralum Ore each. Bring a fast mount, strong spheres (Ultimate or better), and warm clothing — the island is a frozen, high-level zone.

Coralum Ore Uses
