In Palworld, there are five tower bosses scattered across the Palpagos Islands. Each boss is a syndicate leader paired with their signature Pal, and defeating them is required to progress through the game's main storyline. Tower bosses are fought inside their respective syndicate towers, which serve as dungeon-like arenas.

Every tower boss fight operates on a 10-minute timer. If you fail to defeat the boss within this window, you are ejected from the tower and must re-enter to try again. There is no penalty for failing other than lost time — your Pals are not consumed, and you keep any progress made during the attempt. However, you should come prepared with healed Pals, plenty of ammunition, and appropriate weapons.

Upon defeating a tower boss, you receive 5 Ancient Technology Points, which can be spent in the Ancient Technology tree to unlock powerful items like the Grappling Gun, Parachute, and Pal Essence Extractor. With five bosses in total, that's 25 Ancient Technology Points available — enough to unlock every Ancient Tech node in the game. Tower bosses also grant massive XP — see our fast leveling guide for how to loop them for repeated XP farming.

Bosses do not scale to your level. Each boss has a fixed level, meaning you should approach them in order: Zoe first (Lv 10), then Lily (Lv 25), Axel (Lv 40), Marcus (Lv 45), and finally Victor (Lv 50). Attempting later bosses underleveled is possible but extremely difficult.

Important: Tower bosses are immune to status effects like Burn, Freeze, and Shock. Do not rely on DOT (damage over time) strategies — focus on raw burst damage and type advantages instead.

1 Zoe & Grizzbolt — Rayne Syndicate Tower

Level 10 · Location: Rayne Syndicate Tower · Coords: (112, -428)

Zoe is the first tower boss and fights alongside Grizzbolt, a large Electric-type Pal. Grizzbolt's main attacks include a close-range body slam, a three-bolt lightning volley that tracks your position, and a charged beam attack that deals heavy damage in a straight line. The body slam has a wind-up animation — when Grizzbolt raises its arms, immediately sprint sideways to dodge.

Since Grizzbolt is an Electric type, Ground-type Pals are your best counter. At level 10, your options are limited, but Digtoise and Fuddler are both catchable early and deal Ground-element damage. Equip your Pal with the strongest active skill available and use a mounted Pal like Direhowl to maintain mobility during the fight. Bring a bow or crossbow with at least 50 arrows.

The key strategy is to keep moving. Grizzbolt is slow, so circle around it while your Pal attacks from behind. When Grizzbolt begins charging its beam, break line of sight by hiding behind the arena's central pillar. Avoid staying directly in front of the boss at all times. With a level 10+ Pal and decent dodging, this fight is very manageable for new players.

2 Lily & Lyleen — Free Pal Alliance Tower

Level 25 · Location: Free Pal Alliance Tower · Coords: (181, 30)

Lily is the second tower boss, paired with Lyleen, a Grass-type Pal known for its elegant but deadly attacks. Lyleen's attack pattern includes a spread of homing seed projectiles, a ground-based root eruption that deals damage in a line, and a wide-area pollen burst that can stagger you if you are too close. The root eruption telegraphs with a glowing line on the ground — step off it immediately.

Lyleen is a Grass type, making Fire-type Pals the optimal counter. By level 25, you should have access to Foxparks, Arsox, or even Vanwyrm as a flying Fire-type mount. Vanwyrm is especially good here because its aerial vantage point helps you dodge the ground-based root attacks entirely. Bring Fire Arrows or a Fire-element weapon if you have one crafted.

The arena has multiple elevated platforms — use them to break line of sight from the homing seeds. When Lyleen begins its pollen burst attack (indicated by a glowing aura), back away to a safe distance before re-engaging. Keep your Fire Pal's active skills on cooldown rotation and weave in ranged weapon fire between dodges. If you have a Pal with the Flamethrower skill, it shreds Lyleen's health bar rapidly. This fight is straightforward with proper Fire-type counters.

3 Axel & Orserk — Brothers of the Eternal Pyre

Level 40 · Location: Brothers of the Eternal Pyre · Coords: (-588, -514)

Axel is the third tower boss and commands Orserk, a powerful Electric/Dragon-type Pal. Orserk's arsenal includes a devastating lightning storm that strikes multiple zones in the arena, a sweeping tail whip with wide reach, and a charged Dragon Breath that deals massive damage in a cone. The lightning storm is the most dangerous — orange markers appear on the ground before each strike, giving you about two seconds to reposition.

Orserk is Electric/Dragon, so Ice and Ground types are your best options. Frostallion is ideal if you can acquire it, but at level 40, Reindrix, Cryolinx, or Penking are solid Ice-type alternatives. For Ground coverage, Anubis or Digtoise work well. A dual-type approach — one Ice Pal for damage and one Ground Pal for tanking — gives you flexibility during the fight.

The Dragon Breath attack is the fight's biggest threat. When Orserk rears back and its mouth glows, immediately dash perpendicular to the cone direction. Never stand directly in front of Orserk for more than two seconds. Use a fast mount like Direhowl or Nitewing for quick repositioning. Keep your Pals rotated — swap to a fresh Pal when your active one drops below 30% HP. With proper Ice/Ground coverage and consistent dodging, Axel falls within the timer comfortably.

4 Marcus & Faleris — PIDF Tower

Level 45 · Location: PIDF Tower · Coords: (558, 332)

Marcus is the fourth tower boss, partnered with Faleris, a swift Fire-type Pal. Faleris is the fastest tower boss in the game — it frequently dashes across the arena, leaving fire trails that deal residual damage if you walk through them. Its signature attacks include a diving fireball barrage, a rapid peck combo at close range, and a massive fire tornado that expands outward from its position. The fire tornado is the fight's signature mechanic.

Faleris is a Fire type, so Water and Ice types are your strongest counters. Jormuntide (Watering Lv4) is an excellent choice with high HP and strong Water skills. Azumurai and Penking also work well if you need accessible options. For Ice coverage, Reindrix or Cryolinx can deal super-effective damage while tanking fire hits reasonably well.

The fire tornado is your biggest threat — when Faleris begins spinning, sprint to the arena's edge and circle around. The tornado expands for about five seconds before dissipating. Avoid the fire trails on the ground, as they persist for several seconds and chip away your health. Use a flying mount to gain verticality and dodge ground-based attacks. Bring at least 80 rounds of ammunition for your best ranged weapon. With Water/Ice coverage and disciplined positioning, Marcus is beatable.

Weapon Tip: The Rocket Launcher or Grenade Launcher is extremely effective against Faleris due to its large hitbox. Craft at least 10 rockets before attempting this fight — each hit deals massive burst damage that bypasses Faleris's speed advantage.

5 Victor & Shadowbeak — PAL Genetic Research Tower

Level 50 · Location: PAL Genetic Research Tower · Coords: (-146, 450)

Victor is the final tower boss, commanding Shadowbeak, a Dark-type Pal with some of the highest DPS in the game. Shadowbeak's attack pattern is aggressive and fast: it fires a volley of dark energy projectiles that home in on your position, executes a rapid dive-bomb that deals massive contact damage, and unleashes Divine Disaster — its signature skill that creates an expanding shockwave dealing catastrophic area damage. Divine Disaster has a very short wind-up, making it hard to react to.

Shadowbeak is a Dark type, which means Dragon-type Pals are your best counter. Jetragon is the top pick — its Dragon Meteor skill deals enormous burst damage, and its flight speed lets you dodge Shadowbeak's dive-bombs. If you don't have Jetragon yet, Jormuntide Ignis or Relaxaurus can serve as Dragon-type alternatives with solid damage output.

This fight is a DPS race against the 10-minute timer. Start by deploying Jetragon and immediately using Dragon Meteor. When Shadowbeak charges Divine Disaster (look for the dark aura pulse), sprint directly away — the shockwave has limited range and can be outrun with a fast mount. Use the arena's central structure to break homing projectile locks. Keep a second Pal ready as backup. If your first Pal faints, swap immediately rather than wasting time reviving. Bring your best weapon — the Legendary Assault Rifle or Rocket Launcher — and unload between dodges. Victor is the hardest fight in the game, but with Jetragon and proper execution, it's very winnable.

Final Boss Tip: If you're struggling with the 10-minute timer, breed a Jetragon with passive skills like Musclehead, Ferocious, and Lucky. These passives stack to increase attack damage by over 50%, dramatically shortening the fight. A fully optimized Jetragon can defeat Shadowbeak in under 5 minutes.

💡 General Boss Fight Tips

Universal strategies that apply to every tower boss fight in Palworld.

Dodge Timing

Every boss attack in Palworld has a wind-up animation that telegraphs the incoming strike. Learn to read these cues: raised arms indicate a slam, glowing mouths signal beam attacks, and ground markers warn of area effects. The dodge window is typically 1-2 seconds after the wind-up begins. Sprint perpendicular to the attack direction — never back away in a straight line, as tracking projectiles will still hit you. Practice dodge timing on Zoe (the easiest boss) before attempting later fights.

Mount Usage

Mounted Pals are essential for boss fights because they provide mobility and a damage platform simultaneously. Flying mounts like Vanwyrm, Nitewing, and Jetragon give you aerial superiority, letting you dodge ground-based attacks entirely. Ground mounts like Direhowl offer sprint speed for quick repositioning. When mounted, your Pal's partner skill often becomes available — for example, Jetragon's missile launcher or Direhowl's bite attack. Always enter a boss fight mounted, and remount immediately if you get knocked off. Check our Best Pals tier list for the top combat and mount picks.

Weapon Recommendations

Don't rely solely on your Pals — your own weapon damage matters significantly. For early bosses (Zoe, Lily), a Crossbow with 50+ arrows is sufficient. For mid-game bosses (Axel), upgrade to a Musket or Single-Shot Rifle with 100+ rounds. For late bosses (Marcus, Victor), bring a Legendary Assault Rifle with 200+ rounds, or a Rocket Launcher with 10+ rockets. The Rocket Launcher is especially effective against large bosses like Faleris and Shadowbeak due to their big hitboxes. Always craft ammo before entering the tower — you cannot open your inventory chest mid-fight. New players should also review our beginner guide for early-game weapon crafting tips.

Pal Party Composition

Bring a party of 5-6 Pals to every boss fight. Include at least two type-advantage Pals for damage, one tanky Pal to absorb aggro, and one Pal with healing or support skills. Rotate your active Pal when it drops below 30% HP — a fainted Pal deals zero DPS. Keep your Pals' active skills off cooldown by cycling between them. Never enter a fight with a party of fewer than 4 Pals, even if you're overleveled. Always do a pre-fight checklist: all Pals at full HP, weapons fully loaded, flying mount equipped, and correct type advantage active. A 30-second prep check saves you a wasted 10-minute attempt.
