How Breeding Works in Palworld 1.0

Quick Answer: Every Pal has a hidden Breeding Power (BP) from 1 to 1500. Breed two Pals, the game averages their BP values, and produces the Pal whose BP is closest to that average. Lower BP = rarer. Higher BP = more common. You need a Breeding Farm (Level 19) and Cake.

The Breeding Power Formula

Each of the 299 Pals in Palworld 1.0 has a hidden Breeding Power value. The formula is simple:

(Parent A BP + Parent B BP) ÷ 2 → Child = Pal with closest BP

PalRarityBreeding Power
ChikipiCommon1500
LamballCommon1470
AnubisEpic570
JetragonLegendary90
BlazamutLegendary10

All 299 Pals have a BP value — search any Pal in the Breeding Calculator to see its BP.

How to Use This to Get Any Pal

To breed a specific Pal: Find two parents whose BP average lands close to your target's BP. For example, to get Anubis (BP 570): Penking (520) + Bushi (640) → average 580 → closest BP is 570 = Anubis.

Alternative: Nitewing (420) + Rayhound (740) → average 580 → also Anubis. Multiple parent pairs work for most Pals — the Breeding Finder shows all of them ranked by parent availability.

What About Legendary Pals?

Most Legendaries (Jetragon, Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus) are genderless and cannot breed. You must catch them in the wild. One exception: Frostallion Noct = Frostallion + Helzephyr.

FAQ

How does the Breeding Power formula work?
The game averages both parents' BP and finds the Pal closest to that average. Example: Penking (520) + Bushi (640) → avg 580 → Anubis (570). There are 44,000+ possible combinations in 1.0. Try the calculator →
Why can't I breed Jetragon?
Jetragon (and most Legendaries) are genderless — they cannot be assigned to the Breeding Farm. You must catch them in the wild. Frostallion Noct is the only breedable Legendary variant.
What do I need to start breeding?
Breeding Farm (unlocks Lv 19) + Cake (5 Flour + 8 Red Berries + 7 Milk + 8 Eggs + 2 Honey). Place male + female Pal, add Cake, wait ~5 min per egg.
